Backpacking In Mammoth. August 14-17, 2011.

Greg and I drove up on Saturday, hitting a brewery and casino on the way before spending Saturday night at Coldwater Creek Campground. Alex, Gary and Rex met us at the trail head early the next morning and we set out towards Duck Pass.

After lunch at Duck Lake we pushed onto Purple lake before nightfall.

Day 2: Purple Lake to Ram Lake. Fishing the creek and smaller lakes that littered the ascent. Eventually settling in at Glen Lake, we fished until nightfall before bedding down during a dramatic moon rise.

Alex and I took off up to Franklin Lake, before tackling the crest to drop into Glennette and rejoin the others for the hike back down to Purple Lake where we spent the final night.

Oil Pastels. For Sadie.

Cray-Pas Junior Artist Oil Pastels, (relatively cheap, no complaints) paired with some Canson Mi-Teintes paper (8.5x11in with nice color names like Bisque and Tobacco). I got both from Accent Arts in Palo Alto, a terrific independent art supply store.

Sadie.
